Newest Chief Active vs. Broncos

The Kansas City Chiefs have released their list of seven inactive players for today’s season finale against the Denver Broncos.  For the third straight week, interim head coach Romeo Crennel is keeping the same players on the sidelines.

Inactive:

DL Brandon Bair, S Jon McGraw, OL David Mims, TE Jake O’Connell, QB Tyler Palko, NT Jerrell Powe, WR Jerheme Urban

This means the recently promoted RB Shaun Draughn will make his NFL debut against the Broncos.  The Chiefs are looking to help QB Kyle Orton beat his former team, but needed to see a little something for next season, it wouldn’t be the craziest thing in the world to let the rookie running back get a few carries in addition to his special teams duties.

Seeing Urban and O’Connell finish the season with so many weeks being inactive, there’s little to no chance they are with the Chiefs next season.  There will be months of speculation about roster changes, but those are guys that are all but assured to be playing elsewhere in 2012.

It would have been nice to see Bair and Powe on the field to see just what kind of progress the two rookies have made during their season on the 53-man roster.  With no depth at nose tackle guaranteed to come back next year, Powe will have a chance to make an impact next season if he take the necessary steps.
